Matriel

The First Day

Chaedi and Keldorn, travelling westwards towards the Sword Coast and the city of Baldur’s Gate first encountered Araiya of the Wood whilst resting from their travels in a wooded hollow.

She promptly joined the party who then continued towards the town of Highford , where they entered the Burning Warlock tavern and encountered the lithe thief, ‘Mary’ and the warpriest Bronn Stormborn.

Both individuals joined the party. Hearing of trouble in the Highford Crypt they ventured there, eradicating a fairly large force of undead, including the lich Acherus the Damned. Here they learned of the properties of liches as Acherus was not fully destroyed but instead retreated to his phylactery, held at an unknown location.

The Adventure Continues

Following their victory over Acherus within the Highford Crypt the party spent the night at Highford before travelling downriver in a fisherman’s boat to the village of Lowford. Here they encountered the Lowford Village Elder who told them of strange goings on both at the Lowford Crypt and in the village at night.

The village elder explained that several weeks ago the body of a strange mage had been found in the woods and hastily buried in the crypt, after which the undead had begun to rise and plague the nearby countryside. He gave to the party a grimoire bound in human flesh and full of strange ritual markings, as well as a receipt for a room at the Friendly Noose Inn and a strange note, covered in the same symbols as the grimoire.

The party ventured out to the crypt, encountering a small force of zombies but were unable to gain access to the tomb; a heavy ward had been placed over the entrance which none of them were able to breach.

Having cleared the graveyard of the walking dead the party returned to Lowford, where the village elder informed them that the undead were not the only problem plaguing the village.

Gibberlings in Lowford!

The party chose to rest the night in Lowford and investigate whatever it was that threatened the village in the night. Following a meal and several hours rest the village came under attack from a small horde of gibberlings who were noted to be much older and more dangerous than the usual creatures.

During this engagement Keldorn was knocked unconcious, but managed to escape death thanks to the attentions of his companions, especially the ranger Chaedi.

Having seen off the gibberling menace, the party rested the remainder of the night in Lowford before tracking the gibberlings to their lair; a cave hidden out in the woods east of the village. Here they attacked the monsters, catching them by surprise in the daylight.

Upon entering the lair they encountered the gibberling patriarch, a huge example of his kind who put up a significant fight. He was however dispatched without too much trouble. The gibberlings had, through their killing of travellers on the road amassed a small horde of trinkets and magical items, from which each member of the party took the most appropriate.
